Apply for authorization

You apply for authorization as a patent attorney with Patentombudsnämnden, Swedish Patent Attorneys Board. Bolagsverket administers your application.
Application
Use form No. 301 e, Application for authorization as a patent attorney. You will find the form on the page Forms for patent attorneys.
Attachments
The following attachments must be enclosed to the application form
- a declaration that you do not have a custodian pursuant to Article 11, section 7 of the Parental Code
- certificate proving that you have passed the knowledge test for the authorization
- information regarding your education and professional activities, e.g. degree certificate (diploma) and certificate of working experience
- if you are not registered in the Swedish population register, a personal registration certificate or equivalent document from another country within the European Economic Area (EEA)
- if you are not registered in the Swedish population register, a certificate proving that you are not in bankruptcy or equivalent document from another country within the EEA
- if you are not registered in the Swedish population register, a certificate proving that you are not prohibited against carrying on business or equivalent document from another country within the EEA.

Application fee and annual fee
You will get an invoice when we have received your application for authorization. When the application fee has been paid, we shall start the registration procedure. In addition, you must pay an annual fee. On the page Fees for patent attorneys you will find the fees.
Report changes
In case of changes – for example your address – you must report this immediately to Patentombudsnämnden. Use form No. 302 e, Application for changes. It is free of charge to report changes or to be removed from the register as a patent attorney.
