PRV divides into two parts

PRV Bolag becomes Bolagsverket 1 July 2004

The Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV) will be divided into two separate government authorities as of 1 July 2004:

• Bolagsverket (Swedish Companies Registration Office) in Sundsvall will register new companies, changes in established companies, receive annual accounts, register corporate mortgages, make decisions regarding liquidations and make the information in the registers available. Deputy Director-general Roland Höglund.
• Patent- och registreringsverket (Swedish Patent and Registration Office) in Stockholm and Söderhamn will deal with patents, designs, trademarks, personal names, periodicals and connected services. Director-general Gun Hellsvik. The dividing is intended to make each unit more consistent with the objective to ensure high quality services to private persons, organisations and companies.

Bolagsverket will keep the same postal address, postal giro and bank giro accounts and phone numbers as PRV Bolag had, whereas the certificates issued by Bolagsverket will have new colours and layout. Bolagsverket will take over the work and responsibility from PRV Bolag.
